Author Khalil Hakim affectionately known as Pastor K by the members of his church in Oklahoma has penned a classic novel with his latest book Fade To Black . He proves that he is more than just a man of God but a man with a conscious and a desire to make a difference in the lives of his readers. You will laugh, cry and even get angry at the choices our main character (Maurice) makes based on his dreams of changing his life around. Fade To Blackis a gripping coming of age story that tests a young mans willingness to change from a life of crime and drug dealing to becoming a responsible adult. Brothers and Sisters I encourage all of you to read and recommend this book to family and friends, not just because it’s a great book, but because it can help elevate our consiousness in the black community.

Award Winning Author Ben Burgess Jr. has no boundaries when it come to his writing.

His latest book “Wounded” hits close to home as it tells the story of a young girl who is molested at a very young age. His brilliant use of realism is evident in the way he tells the story of how the main character Samantha grows up to be a manipulative lesbian stripper who is bent on using her body to get what she wants.

Her hatred of men and her lack of self respect is something that makes her incapable of loving herself or anyone else. But as in in first novel “Monster” Mr Burgess allows this character to experience the love that so many of us are in need of. “Wounded” has more suspense, drama and unexpected twist than a episode of Scandal & Being Mary Jane combined.

The talent of Mr Burgess shines through in “Wounded” and this book shows us all why he won the coveted “Readers Favorites Award” as well as “The Beverly Hills Book Club Award”.

In the book “The Unnamed” Author Elva Nelson Hayes introduces us to Opal, a young girl who one day realize’s that she has never met her father.

It also touches on the reasons so many mothers refuse to give their children their fathers last name or even tell their children who their real fathers are. The main character in this touching tale is Opal and this story chronicles how she finally gets to meet her father and develop a relationship with him.

This is an interesting story that is sure to relate to so many children who’s mothers chose not to give them their fathers last name. Maybe it is because they do not know who the father of their child is or they just cannot reveal him to the child. No matter what reason women chose to allow their children to be “Unnamed” or not given the last name of their father, this book will open your eyes to the issues and conflict that it causes in children’s lives when a parent does not let them know who their father or their fathers family is.

“My man My Abuser” is a story filled with both “Love, Hate, Pain & Suffering”. The female character Qortni thinks she is in love with her man Qamar, but she knows that she hate the way he treats her. While this story is very touching and based on the authors past relationship, it is like so many other abusive relationships that young women go thru everyday.

After meeting and dating Qamar for a short period of time Qortni falls in love with him. Not long after that, she realizes that Qamar is not the man she thought he was or even the man she wants to stay in a relationship with. But as abusive relations go she finds out that it’s hard or sometimes even impossible to leave once you fall in love with an abusive lover. Qamar is a dangerous man who will seemingly stop at nothing to keep Qortni in his bed and under his control. The story is also an example of how young women can recognize the signs and traits of an abusive man & even avoid the pain and suffering of being in a relationship with one. Qoutni’s will, determination and love for herself will be tested as she fight’s to get away from Qamar for good.

Author Rocky Rose is a very talented young writer and i look forward to reading more of her work.

Robert “DJ Bass” Jones Writes,
G-Man was a calculated master of the hustling game on the streets of LA. His rise to power and the education he received while being incarcerated was very informative and served as a blueprint for his success as a hustler. The 80s and 90s were turbulent periods for a young black man with dreams.

Gregory Marshall started out as a normal kid from the streets with dreams of making it big. However when we venture down the wrong path even if we have honorable intentions sometimes it can have grave consequences. This crisp and fast paced thriller was easy to follow and comprehend and gives a dramatic inside look into the geducation of a criminalh. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of one manfs journey from obscurity to fame and back. I particularly liked the way the author brought it full circle and demonstrated that even as a feared criminal, he still had a human side.

Although Greg had to die to live, he finally began to realize that he was given a second chance for a reason.
Itfs Funny sometimes how the things we sometimes take for granted can be so fulfilling and bring us the most joy.
A Great story an even better book and I would highly recommend it to many of the troubled youth in our streets.

“Against My Will” by Sherlyn Rachelle was a very pleasant surprise for me both as a reader and as a reader. I don’t often get a chance to review Christian Fiction or Faith Based Books but this was a joy to read.

The main character “Kendall” goes thru trials and tribulations in her search for answers concerning her family. I had to pause periodically while reading this book to just reflect on the story and the pain that Kendall goes thru in search for happiness and peace of mind. Author Sherlynn Rachelle has penned a powerful book that I am so glad i chose to read and review

(Warning) Don’t Go There: This is her story by Author Cynthia James is a very powerful story of love & betrayal.

Ms. James tells the story of how she met and fell in love with a man while he was incarcerated. while her story is not unique i am sure thousands of women can relate to the situation of meeting and falling in love with a man while he is in jail. Some women have even fell in love and married these men while the were still in prison.

The book makes some very good points and i am sure it will spark a lively debate on the pros and cons of falling in love with an incarcerated man or woman. I do think the author has a valid point considering all that her relationship put her thru. But at the end of the day I think every man & woman should make their own decisions and follow there hearts and minds before they enter into a relationship under these circumstances.

This is one of the most interesting books that i have read in quite a while , because it touches on a subject matter that a lot of women can relate to but probably would not feel comfortable talking about women .

It’s not very often that an author writes a children’s book that exceed both the parents & the children’s expectation, but Hi, My Name is Bobo.: (A Weekend in the Life of a 5th Grader) (Step into the World of Bobo) by James Gordon does just that.

Bobo shows kids how to be kids and it takes us grownups back to a simpler time when all we had to do was be a kid. Mr. Gordon has given us a book that allows us to share aspects of our childhood with the children of today. Its a very special book that’s easy to read and children of all ages are sure to enjoy it. Although I don’t usually read children’s books (no little ones at home) but i am going to start thanks to

“Pressed Pennies” By Author Steven Manchester will take you through an evolution of human emotions.

After divorcing her alcoholic husband, Abby (the epitome of a mother) promises her nine-year-old daughter Paige, that it will be just the two of them as they start their future in a new town. Paige is the first priority of her mother’s life. However, this is tested once Abby is reunited with her childhood sweetheart Rick, as they re-kindle the love they had never professed until now. Paige feels threatened by her mother’s love for Rick. She is determined not to welcome him into their inner circle, and reminds him at every opportunity that he’s an intruder.

Due to Paige’s nonacceptance of their relationship, Abby and Rick break up despite their passion for each other. To Abby, her daughter’s well being takes precedence over all other matters. The concept of “putting someone else’s happiness before yours” was the turning point for the future of “the trio’s life”.

This was again, an unexpectedly enjoyable read. I literally experienced the emotions (anger, hurt, joy, love) of the characters.

This gift Steven Manchester has makes him one of my favorite must read authors.

I love the way the author describes the relationship between Craig and his sister Georgia as they go thru pain of their parents not being in their lives. Georgia shows that she is very mature for her age she takes on the responsibility of looking after and protecting her younger brother.
