I really enjoyed this book. If you wanna take a ride through Compton this is one way to do it. If you thought you seen it all on TV think again. Great story.
When reading Just like Compton you know from the beginning that this author is truly from the streets of Compton. Unlike the many writers who write their books based on what they have heard third party or seen on TV/movies the details in his book are so raw and gritty only someone who came from the streets of Compton could paint a picture so vivid!
When I first start to read this book, I had to really take my time being that I was not raised in Ca, but reading and seeing how the author gave all the details, you know he was not writing about something he heard and he was actually writing about what he experience growing up, Times have changed and the area has changed somewhat I heard, since i am not from Cali but have lived there, but the things he wrote about makes you go back and evaluate your own hood, and then you start to think how did I go through all of that and survived, I say that to say this I see the author went through all of that but he survived and can now write about all his mishaps and all his good times, this is an awesome book because it is a wake up book to make you see the light.
