DJGBC Book Review: “Georgia On My Mind” By Brenda Stokes Lee

georgia5.0 out of 5 stars Tintillating Sexual Encounters…., March 17, 2013
By DJ Gatsby Book Club “CG” (New York City, New York) – See all my reviews
This review is from: Georgia On My Mind (Kindle Edition)

If you’re curious about erotica then “Georgia On My Mind” is the book for you. As the story begins Georgia “Peaches” Porter long-term boyfriend Charles is “working late” between the thighs of Mercedes on his office desk. This is just one of the many explosive, titillating sexual encounters being told in this modern day Cinderella story .
Peaches worked three jobs, including her startup design business to support her and Charles since college and his five failed attempts at the law bar. She paid the mortgage on the house they lived in not to mentioned the car note on the Lexus he drove while she drove a “hooptie”. Charles promised to marry her once he passed the bar, but he asked Mercedes to be his wife instead when he was officially a lawyer. And needless to say all hell breaks loose when Peaches finds out that she is not the intended bride-to-be. Now in comes Rashawn, whom Peaches babysat as a teenager. He comes back into her life at the right moment to help her through the breakup with Charles. Months later they start dating but it did not last & they break up, only to get together again. Great Book Brenda Stokes Lee !!

game like honey
DJ Gatsby Book Club Review By: Avid Reader Robert Jones
Game like Honey, Oh what a tangled web. This fictional tale starts off like so many other street novels however, it takes several twists and turns along the way. The ending is like nothing you would ever imagine. An exciting tale of one brothers transformation from a regular player of the game to an upscale, refined, cultured, smooth educated player.

After, starting out in the game and having good success on the streets of New York, Markio is arrested and sentenced to several years behind bars. Forced to leave everything he knows behind, he accepts his fate and tries to hold onto the only thing that truly matters. His son and his true love Shantell. Being apart from his family is difficult but he has no choice. This separation proves too much for Shantell, she decides to move on with one of his associates. Markio is devastated and feels betrayed and swears revenge to all that have betrayed him. As fate would have it he becomes friends with a former master of the game while incarcerated and his true education begins. A full on transformation and identity change and an education money can’t buy. After being released, he teams up with another of his mentor’s creations who also has a score to settle and “let the game began”. The “game” is real!!!

F.Gee Heyward is a skilled and talented new writer that writes it like he sees it. He writes with a realism that is missing from some of the writers of today. I feel this is due to his street credibility, he has first hand knowledge of the streets and has lived these urban experiences.
This story is full of twists and turns and very entertaining. If you enjoy tales from the street this is a great read and will not disappoint.

DJGBC Book Review: Tameka Oliver-Hicks “Dysfunctional”

dysfunctional

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful thriller of a troubled youth, February 4, 2013
This review is from: Dysfunctional: (The root of betrayal) (Paperback)

Dysfunctional by Tameka Oliver-Hicks, this is a or so it seems. The more this suspenseful account reveals, the more you want to know. You want to understand the root of the character’s dysfunctional behavior. Tameka does a wonderful job of describing the character’s background and her troubled childhood. As a reader you get drawn in and at times believe that there is something really dysfunctional about Tamara or is there? Is something more sinister being gradually revealed, is she truly dysfunctional or is there a calculated plot for revenge. Her seemingly uncaring attitude is slowly peeled away and her intricate plan to correct all the wrong that has been done to her is methodically revealed. The story slowly unfolds, giving very little away until finally the questions are answered.

Everyone deals with pain and suffering in their own special way. Sometimes we take for granted that person’s seemingly dysfunctional behavior can be ruse to hide their pain or a cry for help.
A brilliant story line filled with twists and turns that will keep your attention and leave you wanting to know more, wanting to know what Tamara will do next. Sit back and enjoy this suspenseful journey of a troubled teenager and her dreams of changing the hand she was dealt.

DJGBC Book Review : Author Kennedee Devoe “Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right”

kennedee book cover4.0 out of 5 stars Lookin For Love In All The Wrong Places, February 3, 2013
This review is from: Two Wrongs Don’t Make a Right…It Makes Us Even (Paperback)

Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right, is a very interesting story of one woman’s journey while looking for love in all of the wrong places. Kennedee Devoe makes some bad choices, gets herself in some awkward situations and just makes plain old mistakes. She ignored a lot of warning signs, all while searching for a loving relationship. She established a pattern of failed relationships and taking revenge on those that lied cheated and caused her harm. Some of her decisions were costly and not just financially. I liked how the Author Kennedee Devoe was able to take her experiences both negative and positive and use them to evolve from a young girl into a mature woman. She eventually realized that “Two Wrongs Equals A Wrong”. Her decision to share her experiences in hopes that someone else will learn from them is admirable in itself.Sometimes we make choices that will have great consequences. These choices will ultimately impact us and serve to shape us into the mature adults we will become.
I enjoyed the journey and you will too. At times you will cheer, other times you will shake your head. It doesn’t matter how you get the message as long as you get it. Avid Reader & DJGBC Reviewer Robert Jones

DJGBC Book Review: Gregory Marshall “G-Man Education Of A Criminal”

g menG-Man, a calculated master of the hustling game on the streets of LA.

His rise to power and the education he received while being incarcerated  was very informative and served as a blueprint for his success as a hustler. The 80′s and 90′s were turbulent periods for a young black man with dreams.

Gregory Marshall started out as a normal kid from the streets with dreams of making it big. However when we venture down the wrong path even if we have honorable intentions sometimes it can have grave consequences. This crisp and fast paced thriller was easy to follow and comprehend and gives a dramatic inside look into the “education of a criminal”. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of one man’s journey from obscurity to fame and back. I particularly liked the way the author brought it full circle and demonstrated that even as a feared criminal, he still had a human side.

Although Greg had to die to live, he finally began to realize that he was given a second chance for a reason.

It’s Funny sometimes how the things we sometimes take for granted can be so fulfilling and bring us the most joy.

Great story an even better book and I would highly recommend it to many of the troubled youth in our society.
